Project Phases and Milestones
Project Phases and Milestones help plan your project activities better. To be better at tracking your team’s progress, avoid bottlenecks and overlapping, set the order of project phases in a logical timeline and add different tasks under each phase in the order they need to be finished. Add milestones to have a clear goal for each step of the project.
1. Start by adding a new project.
2. You can Phases and Milestones while adding a new project. Or click on the Phases and Milestones button in the project detailed view.
3. There are three options to choose from:
Add a Phase. Later on, add activities that need to be finished during the phase.
Add a Phase with a Milestone – this way the phase has a clear goal.
Add a Milestone that shows exactly what target you need to reach.
Whichever you pick, make sure to add a title, a starting and ending date (for a Milestone only the end date). Click Save.
You can change the order of the phases and milestones by dragging and dropping them in the same popup.
Note! All tasks added under the project before adding Phases and Milestones are automatically moved under the first Phase or Milestone. You can change the phase to which a task belongs by clicking on the task priority tick and modifying it. Or change the phase for multiple tasks at the same time – go to the task list, filter the list accordingly, select the relevant tasks (by ticking them) and on the additional filters bar click on Link with project to choose the project phase you'd like to move the tasks to.
Activities with dates and deadlines in the future are shown under Planned activities in the project view.
Done tasks and past events are shown under Past activities and work reports. You can also see both planned and done tasks in the task list, just filter the list view accordingly.
To add activities under an already existing Phase and/or Milestone, just click on the Add button next to the relevant Phase/Milestone. Select the suitable option and fill in the data like when adding a regular task or event. In addition, you can add a task bundle.
All added Phases/Milestones are visible in the Project Timeline. If you hover over a phase, a tooltip with all activities listed under that phase opens up. This gives you an easy overview of what's already done and what still needs to be taken care of.
The orange "diamond" indicates a project Milestone. The smaller red dot, on the other hand, shows that there is an activity with a date or deadline outside a phase. For example, an event that took place before the start of 1st phase.
The blue dotted line indicates today's date and the red one shows the deadline of the project.
Easily adjust the view of the timeline with the help on different buttons on the right upper corner of the timeline.
